Answer :-

Let the number be x.

According to the question :-

3/5 times a number i.e. 3/5 x is taken away from 16 means 3/5 x is subtracted from 16 then the result is the number itself i.e. the result is x.

Now let's form the equation :-

⇒ $\sf 16 - \dfrac{3}{5} x = x$

⇒ $\sf x + \dfrac{3}{5}x = 16$

⇒ $\sf \dfrac{5x + 3x}{5} = 16$

⇒ $\sf \dfrac{8x}{5} = 16$

⇒ $\sf 8x = 16 \times 5$

⇒ $\sf 8x = 80$

⇒ $\sf x = \dfrac{80}{8}$

⇒ $\sf x = 10$

So, Required number = 10

Verification :-
