MONARCH MIGRATION:-

Each fall, millions of fragile monarch butterflies undertake an amazing journey. They travel from southern Canada and the northern United States to the mountains of Mexico and the coast of California, covering upto 180 miles a day. Some monarchs make a round-trip and travel 4,000 miles in a year. They spend the winter resting and conserving fat stores in their southern locations.

When spring arrives, monarchs head north, laying eggs along the way. The eggs hatch, turning into caterpillars and then butterflies that will join the migration, following a route they have never traversed before. Those that complete the round-trip migration, expire after mating.
