• The Latin word "status," from which the English word "statistics" is derived, denotes "political state" or "governance." The term "statistics" was first used to describe the information that kings required regarding their military, population, agriculture, and land.
• The development of early human statistical and census procedures by John Graunt and William Petty in 1662, which served as the foundation for contemporary demography, is frequently seen as the beginning of statistics. He created the first life table, which provided survival rates for each age.
• In order to create new statistical measures and indicators, development of statistics refers to the establishment and improvement of statistical methods, standards, and procedures utilized in the creation and dissemination of statistics.
