Quicklime contains 71.47% of calcium. How much calcium is present in a sample of quicklime which contains 16g of oxygen ?

Quicklime is CaO

1 mole of O is present therefore 1 mole of CaO is given

Therefore % of Ca in CaO is = Mass of Ca÷Mass of CaO×100 (in numerator)

71.4= x÷56×100

71.4×56÷100= X

39.98=X

Therefore 39.98g of Ca is present in the sample
