It was officially launched by the Indian National Congress (INC) and led by Mahatma  Gandhi on 8th August 1942.It demanded an end to British rule of India. After the Cripps  Mission had failed, Mahatma Gandhi made ‘Do or Die’ call through the Quit India  movement. Large protests and demonstrations were held all over the country. It was a  Civil Disobedience Movement to gain independence from British rule. This movement  was Gandhiji's call to the British to withdraw from India.
