sir william herschel discovered the infrared during radiation in the sunlight . he took a prism and pass the sunlight through the prism . he took a thermometer just beyond the prism . when the white light split out into seven different colours . he measures the amount of heat in each colour . he found out that in red colour it is higher than any other . then he took a thermometer just past the red colour but he does not found any visible light but the amount of heat is even higher . he thought that there is a presence of any light in this region which we can not see . and it is called as infrared . this experiment was took place in 1800
