at the speed of 30kmph it takes {1pm(13:00)-9:00)}= 4 hours
then distance= 30×4=120
so at the increase speed it has to cover the distance ( till 12pm) in 12:00-9:00= 3hours
so increased speed= 120/3= 40kmph
so it has to increase the speed by 40-30= 10kmph

Answer: 40 km/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Time took by Rachit to reach the destination= 4 hrs (from 9:00am to 1:00 pm).
  • Speed at which he drove previously=30km/hr
  • Distance= speed×time

                       =(30×4)km

                       =120 km

  • Now,he has to increase the speed so that he can reach by 12 p.m. i.e., 1 hr before so time= 3hrs
  • ∴Speed=\frac{Distance}{time}

                     =\frac{120}{3} km/hr

                     =40 km/hr

  • Hence,Rachit needs to drive at 40 km/hr to reach the destination by 12 p.m.
