Lace needed for the handkerchief is 1200 cm.

Question :

Radhika had a piece of cloth 1m long and 60cm broad. she cut it into square shaped handkerchiefs, each side measuring 20 cm and put a lace on the boundary. How much lace is needed for the handkerchiefs?

Given :

Cloth dimension : Length = 1 m and Breadth = 60 cm.

Conversion of m to cm :

1 m = 100 cm.

Length = 100 cm  and   Breadth = 60 cm.

Measurement of each side of handkerchief = 20 cm

Let "x" be the number of handkerchief.

Area of cloth = x (Area of one handkerchief)

100 × 60 = x ( 20 × 20 )

6000 = 400 x

x = \frac{6000}{400}

x = 15.

Hence, there are 15 handkerchiefs.

To find how much lace is needed for the handkerchiefs? :

Perimeter of one handkerchief = 4 × 20 = 80 cm.

Lace needed for 15 handkerchief = 15 × 80 = 1200 cm.

Therefore, lace needed for the handkerchief is 1200 cm.
