OA=radius=17cm

Now, OC⊥AB

Then, AC=CB=8cm  (perpendicular drawn from the centre of the circle to the chord,bisects the chord)

∴OC=(OA2−AC2)=(172−82)=(225)=15cm

Hence, OC=15cm
