radius of nth orbit of an element, r = 0.529 × n²/Z A° , where Z is atomic number of element.

given, radius of second orbit = 0.07nm = 0.7 A°

⇒ 0.529 × (2)²/Z = 0.7

⇒0.529 × 4/0.7 = Z

⇒Z ≈ 3

so, atomic number of element is 3

now, energy of second orbit of given element, U = -13.6 × Z²/n² eV

= -13.6 × (3)²/(2)² eV

= -13.6 × 9/4 eV

= -30.6 eV

hence, energy associated for second orbit of given element is -30.6 eV
