Rahul covers a distance from P to Q on bicycle at 10 km/h and returns back at 9 km/h. Anuj covers the distance from P to Q and Q to P both at 12 km/h. On calculation we find that Anuj took 10 minutes less than Rahul. Find the distance between P and Q ?

Given :--

  • Rahul Speed when going From P to Q=10km/h.
  • Rahul Speed when going From Q to P=9km/h.
  • Anuj Speed when going From P to Q=12km/h.
  • Anuj Speed when going From Q to P=12km/h.
  • Anuj Took 10 minutes Less than Rahul ...

To Find :---

  • Distance Between P and Q.. ?

Solution :---

Let the Distance b/w, P and Q is = D km .

→ Rahul take time to reach From P to Q now = Distance/Speed = D/10 hours.

→ Rahul take time to reach From Q to P now = D/9 hours.

→ Total Time taken by Rahul in whole Journey =

= D/10 + D/9 = (19D/90) hours.

Similarly,

Anuj take time to reach From P to Q now = Distance/Speed = D/12 hours.

→ Anuj take time to reach From Q to P now = D/12 hours.

→ Total Time taken by Rahul in whole Journey =

= D/12 + D/2 = (D/6) hours.

__________________________

It has been said that now, Anuj took 10 min Less than rahul ,

→ 60 min ---------- 1 hour

→ 10 min ----------- (1/6) hours.

So, According to Question now,

(19D/90) - (D/6) = 1/6

Taking LCM

(19D - 15D)/90 = 1/6

→ 4D/90 = 1/6

Cross - Multiply now ,

24D = 90

→ D = 90/24

→ D = 3.75km .

Hence, Distance between P to Q is 3.75km ..
