Rahul was travelling in metro after a tiring day at office. He was famished and badly exhausted! He was itching to reach home, have bath, enjoy his meals and go to bed. The coach of the metro was usually crowded in the evening as the commuters were in rush to reach home.
The train halted at a station, where people disembarked and new crowd of people embarked. The coach again became packed to capacity. Rahul noticed an aged woman struggling to stand comfortably in the crowded coach. He went upto her and offered her his seat. The old lady thanked him and sat quietly. Rahul noticed tears streaming down her eyes.
He inched closer to her and asked, ‘Auntie I hope everything is alright with you?’
The old woman looked at her and just kept crying.
‘Auntie ji please let me know if I can do something for you!’, insisted Rahul.
‘My husband just passed away this morning after a long illness. I am returning from crematorium after his cremation. I don’t have anyone else in my family. I will feel so miserable and lonely in my big house’, replied the lady.
Rahul felt so sorry for the aged lady. He said, ‘Auntie ji, kindly come to my house and stay there for a few days until you feel better. My family is quite loving and caring. they would love to share your sorrow.’
Rahul took the old lady to his home where his family welcomed the old lady.
