Rahul went to an electronic shop to get his threshold radio set repaired. The radio

mechanic required resistances of 1.5 ohms and 10 ohms to repair the radio set propertly.

But he had only large number of 3 ohm resistors. The radio mechanic made many

attempts but could not get right combinations. Rahul had studies combination of

resistances in class X. Rahul joined some 3 ohms resistors by in two different ways to

obtain the required resistances.

a) How did he obtain 1.5 ohms resistance by joining a number of 3 ohms resistors ?

b) How many 3 ohms resistors were combined together to obtain 1.5 ohms ?

c) How did Rahul obtain 10 ohms resistance by joining number of 3 ohm resistors ?

d) How many 3 ohms resistors were combined together to obtain 10 ohms resistance ?

Answer:

ans a+b

add in parallel series...

1/3+1/3+1/3+1/3+1/3+1/3+1/3+1/3+1/3= 1.5 ohm

and total 9 resistance

ans c+d

add in series and parallel both

3+3+3 + 1/3+1/3+1/3=10ohm

and 6 resistance required
