Let Diya's age = x years

Raj's age = ( x + 6 ) years

According to the given problem,

One half of Raj's age exceeds one

third of Diya's age by 4 years

1/2 ( x +6 ) - x /3 = 4

(x + 6 )/2 - x /3 = 4

3( x + 6) -2x = 24

3x + 18 -2x = 24

x = 24 - 18

x = 6

Therefore ,

Diya's age = x = 6 years

Raj's age = ( x + 6 ) = ( 6 + 6 ) = 12 yrs
