Rajan can do a job in 60 days

To find:

(i) How much of the job will he be able to finish in a day?

(ii) How much of the job will he be able to do in 36 days?

Solution:

(i) Finding the amount of work done by Rajan in 1 day:

Using the unitary method,

If in 60 days, Rajan can do 1 job

Then in 1 day, Rajan will be able to do = \frac{1}{60}

Thus, he will be able to finish \underline{\frac{1}{60}th} of the job in a day.

(ii) Finding the amount of work done by Rajan in 36 days:

Using the unitary method,

If in 1 day, Rajan does = \frac{1}{60} of the job

Then in 36 days, Rajan will be able to do = \frac{1}{60}\times 36 = \frac{3}{5}

Thus, he will be able to finish \underline{\frac{3}{5}th} of the job in 36 days.

(iii). Finding the no. of days Rajan will do \frac{2}{5} th of the work:

Using the unitary method,

If Rajan does 1 job in 60 days

Then \frac{2}{5} th of the job will be done by Rajan in = \frac{2}{5}\times 60 = 2 \times 12 = 24\:days

Thus, he will be able to do \bold{{\frac{2}{5} }th} of the job in 24 days.
