hence, 2x/5 = y

(x +8)/2 = y + 8

hence, substituting for the value of y, in the second equation,

(x +8)/2 = 2x/5 +8

or, x + 8 = 4x/5 +16

5x + 40 = 4x + 80

hence, x = 40

and y = 16

hence, Priya's present age is 40.
