Let the C.P. of pen at which Ram bought the pen from Kamala be Rs. x.

Ram sold the pen at 25% profit to Kamala.

Thus, S.P. of Ram = C.P. of Kamala

= C.P.{(100+profit%)}/100

= Rs. {(100+25)(x/100)}

=Rs. 125x/100

Kamala sold the pen to Roshan at 10% profit.

Thus, S.P. of Kamala = C.P. of Roshan

=C.P.{(10-loss%)}/100

= Rs. {(100-10)(125x/100)}/100

=Rs. {(90/100)}(125x/100)} = Rs. 9x/8

=Rs. 90x125/100×100 = Rs. 90

But C.P. of Roshan = Rs. 72

According to the question,

9x/8=72

=> x = 72 × 8/9 = 8×8 = 64

Thus, C.P. of Ram = Rs. 64
