Ram had 30 flowers. He offered some flowers in a temple and found that the ratio of the number of remaining flowers to that of flowers in the beginning is 2:5. Find the number of flowers offered by him in the temple.

Number of flowers initially = 30

Let the number of flowers offered be x

Ratio of remaining flowers to flowers in beginning = 2:5

= 2/5

⇒ 2/5 = x/30

2(30) = 5x (after cross multiply)

60 = 5x

60/5 = x

12 = x

Flowers offered = x

Flowers remaining = 30-12

= 18
