% of money spend=60%

Therefore % of money left=(100-60)=40%

Let the money at beginning be x.

So,

40%of x=400

40/100 of x=400

x=400×100/40

=1000.

Hope it helps:)

Answer:

1000

Step-by-step explanation:

Let his total money be-x

money spend by him=60%ofx

i.e 60x/100

3x/5

According to question,

x -60%ofx=400

x-3x/5=400

5x-3x/5=40

2x/5=400

2x=400×5

2x=2000

x=2000/2

x=1000

Therefore,Total money is equal to 1000
