Answer:

The present ages of Kiran and Shyam are in the ratio 5:4 respectively. Three years hence, the ratio of their ages will become 11:9 respectively. What is Shyam's present age in years?

Answer: Shyam's present age is 24 years.

Explanation:

Let the rational between their ages be x.

The present ages of Kiran and Shyam are in the ratio 5:4 respectively.

Thus the present age of Kiran and Shyam is 5x and 4x.

Three years hence, the ratio of their ages will become 11:9 respectively.

Three years hence their ages 5x + 3 and 4x + 3.

The ratio = 5x+ 3 / 4x + 3 = 11/9.

Cross multiplication =

9 (5x + 3) = 11 (4x + 3)

45x + 27 = 44x + 33

45x - 44x = 33 - 27

x = 6.

Rational is 6 therefore Kiran age 5x = 5 × 6 = 30. years and Shyam age 4x = 4 × 6 = 24 years.

Answer: Shyam present age is 24 years.
