40%= 178+22=200
1% = 200/40 = 5
100% = 5*100 = 500

Hey friend..!! Here"s your answer
_________________________

Raman has to score a minimum 40% marks
and he gets 178 marks and fails by 22 marks,

Let the maximum marks = x

According to question,

178 + 22 = 40%
200 marks = 40 %

To find the maximum marks,

40\% = \frac{200}{x} \times 100 \\ \\ 40x = 20000 \\ \\ x = 500

So the maximum marks = 500
