Let Ramesh's age be y

So according to the question,
Father's age = 7 years more than 5 times of Ramesh's age

=> Father's age = 7 + 5y

Given that, Father's age = 42 yrs

=> 42 = 7 + 5y

=> 7 + 5y = 42

=> 5y = 42 - 7 = 35

=> y = 35/5

=> y = 7 years.


Hence the age of Ramesh is 7 years.


Verification :-


42 = 7 + 5y

=> 42 = 7 + 5(7)

=> 42 = 7 + 35

=> 42 = 42

Since, LHS = RHS, the answer is correct.
