Ramosi peasant revolt 1879 in Satara area of Maharashtra was an important uprising in the history of peasant movement in India during the British rule. The peasants were against the exploitative land revenue policies of British as well as British administration.

More importantly the Deccan famine of 1876-77 caused more hardships to the peasants. So the peasants under the leadership of Vasudev Balwant Phadke revolted against the British. They raised the Ramosi peasant force as well and thought of establishing the Hindu Raj.

Ramosi peasants also revolted earlier in 1825-26 under the leadership of Chittur Singh.
