Answer:

Perimeter of rectangle=(2×(l+b)

2×(60+40)

2×100

200m

No. of rounds=3

Distance covered= 200×3=600m

Perimeter of square=4×side

4×55m

220m

Distance covered=220×3

660m

since 600<660

Samita covered greater distance.

Answer:

Smita walks more distance by 60m.

Length(l) of rectangular park = 60m.

Breadth(b) of rectangular park = 40m.

So,

Perimeter of rectangular park = 2(l + b)

                                                  = 2(60m + 40m)

                                                  = 2 * 100m

                                                  = 200m.

As Ranjan walks around the rectangular park for 3 rounds so the distance covered by Ranjan becomes 3 * 200m = 600m.

Now,

Length(l) of square park = 55m

So,

The perimeter of square park = 4l

                                                 = 4 * 55m

                                                 = 220m.

As Smita walks around square park for 3 rounds so the distance covered by Smita becomes 3 * 220m = 660m.

Therefore, Smita walks more distance by 660m - 600m = 60m.
