Ranjit has a piece of metal. He holds the metal piece near a magnet and it is attracted. Is Ranjit right if he says that the metal piece is a magnet? Explain.

No ranjit is not right. Because, magnets as well as magnetic materials like iron and cobalt. He should see whether the metal repels the magnet because repulsion is the sure test of magnetism.

NO, as it is not only a magnet that attracts with another magnet, magnets do have a capability of attracting some metals including ferrous, cobalt, nickel and many more. Hence, the metal which Ranjit has is might not be surely a magnet.
