Ratan was trying to charge a metal rod using friction. He held the rod in his left hand and started rubbing it with a felt cloth while standing bare feet on the ground. When he used an elactroscope to detect the charges he found that the rod did not get charged. What was the reason?

there was no charge on the rod because the charge created on the rod by the friction has been gone to the earth by means of ratan body

because he was standing with a bare feet therefore whole charge transferred from rod to earth
