Rate of a reaction depends on :

Nature of reactant and products : it's based on their ability to break the older bonds resulting in New bond formation . For example the reaction between Carbon monoxide and oxygen to form carbon dioxide is quite quick as compared to the reaction between nitrous oxide and oxygen .

Surface Area Exposed : More is the surface area exposed , faster will be the reaction

Temperature : the rate of a reaction increases with an increase in temperature because effective collisions increase.

Pressure : An increase in pressure also tends to increase the rate of a reaction .

Presence of Catalyst : The presence of a catalyst usually increases the rate of a reaction. For example , in the hebbar's process of manufacturing ammonia , the presence of Catalyst Fe and promotor Mo increases the rate .
