Answer:

suppose present age of his son is x and age of father is 3x.

before 5 years.

father's age = 3x-5 and his son's age = x-5

ratio given of ages before 5 years is 4:1

so, (3x-5):(x-5)=4:1

=> (3x-5)/(x-5)=4/1

=> (3x-5)=4(x-5)

=> 3x-5 = 4x-20

=> 15 = 7x

so, x = 15/7 present age of his son.

and father's present age is 3x=3×15/7

=45/7 ages.
