Let the Original Numbers be 4x and 7x
Given that each number is increased by 20
⇒ The New Numbers are (4x + 20) and (7x + 20)
Given that the New numbers are in the ratio - 7 : 9
⇒ (4x + 20)/(7x + 20) = 7/9
⇒ (4x + 20) × 9 = (7x + 20) × 7
⇒ 36x + 180 = 49x + 140
⇒ 13x = 40
⇒ x = 40/13
We know that Original numbers are 4x and 7x
but we got the value of x = 40/13
⇒ The Original numbers are (4 × 40/13) and (7 × 40/13)
⇒ The Original numbers are 160/13 and 280/13

ANSWER :-
160 / 13 , 280 / 13
EXPLAINATION :-
Let the numbers be 4x and 7x
According to Question ,
=>( 4x + 20 ) : ( 7x + 20 ) = 7 : 9
=>( 4x + 20 ) / ( 7x + 20 ) = 7 / 9
=>49x + 140 = 36x + 180
=>49x - 36x = 180 - 140
=>13x = 40
=>x = 40 / 13
So ,
First number :-
4x = 4 × 40 / 13
4x = 160 / 13
Second number :-
7x = 7 × 40 / 13
7x = 280 / 13
160 / 13 , 280 / 13
EXPLAINATION :-
Let the numbers be 4x and 7x
According to Question ,
=>( 4x + 20 ) : ( 7x + 20 ) = 7 : 9
=>( 4x + 20 ) / ( 7x + 20 ) = 7 / 9
=>49x + 140 = 36x + 180
=>49x - 36x = 180 - 140
=>13x = 40
=>x = 40 / 13
So ,
First number :-
4x = 4 × 40 / 13
4x = 160 / 13
Second number :-
7x = 7 × 40 / 13
7x = 280 / 13
