let marks of a be x
marks of b be y
x/y = 3/4

=> 4x = 3y

but x has got 30 marks less than b
so y - 30 = x

so

4(y-30) = 3y

=> 4y - 120 = 3y

=> y = 120

so the marks obtained by b is 120

hope it helps mark as brainliest

karthik58137: how a=b -30 will come

The marks obtained by B is 40

Given:

The ratio of marks obtained from A and B = 3 :4

A gets 30 marks less than B

To find:

The marks obtained by B

Solution:

Given The ratio of marks of A and B = 3 :4

⇒ Let 3x and 4x be the marks of A and B respectively

[ Since they are in 3 : 4 ratio ]

Given A got 30 marks less than B

⇒  3x = 4x - 10

⇒  4x -3x = 10

⇒  x = 10

The marks obtained by B = 4(10) = 40

Therefore, the marks obtained by B is 40
