Ratio of milk and water in two vessels a and b is 3:5 and 1:3 respectively . In wjat ratio they must be mixed so resultant solution may contain half milk and half water?

Vessel B milk & water= 1/4 & 3/4


Now milk & water mixed in we get half milk and half water .

Then,

3x/8+ y/4= 1/2..............(1)

5x/8 + 3y/4= 1/2 .............(2)

solving both

(3x+2y)= 4..............(1)

5x+6y= 4................(2)

multiply equation 1 by 3

9x+6y=12

5x+6y=4

now subtract (2) from equation (1)

4x=8

x=2

then y = 1


Therefore ratio is 2:1
