Since the ratio of parallel sides of trapezium is 5 : 3, let their length be 5x and 3x

Given that height = 12 cm

Area = 480 cm²

We know that the area of trapezium =

1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × height

So,

1/2 × (5x + 3x) × 12 = 480

=> 6 × (8x) = 480

=> 8x = 480/6

=> 8x = 80

=> x = 80/8

=> x = 10

So 5x = 5 × 10 = 50 cm

And 3x = 3 × 10 = 30 cm

So the length of parallel sides are 50 and 30 cm respectively.

Answer :

Length of parallel sides are 50 cm and 30 cm.

Step-by-step explanation :

Let the length of parallel sides of a trapezium be 5x and 3x respectively.

Height of trapezium = 12 cm.

According to the question ;

Area of trapezium = 480 cm²

⇒ 1 / 2 * (sum of || sides) * h = 480

⇒ 1 / 2 * ( 5x + 3x ) * 12 = 480

⇒ 8x = 480 / 6

⇒ 8x = 80

⇒ x = 80 / 8

⇒ x = 10

Therefore, length of parallel sides ;

5x = 5 * 10 = 50 cm

3x = 3 * 10 = 30 cm
