Rattan was trying to charge a metal rod using friction. He held the rod in his left hand and started rubbing it with a felt cloth while standing bare foot on the ground. When he used an electroscope to detect the charges he found that the rod didn't charged. What was the reason?

when he rub the rod while standing bare foot on the ground the charge electrons of the rod enter into his body and then it was absorbed by ground. this property came to know as earthing. in this process his body was act like a medium for interchanging the electrons of rod to that of the ground.
