Explanation:

Solution :

Old Ratio :

Ravi : Harry = 1 : 1

  • Ravi's Share = 1/2
  • Harry's Share = 1/2

They admitted Tulsi for 1/4 th share of profits.

  • Tulsi's Share = 1/4

Let,

Total Profit of all Partners = 1

  • Tulsi's Share = 1/4

Remaining Share =

1 - 1/4 = 3/4

New profit sharing ratio :

Ravi's new share =

⇒ 3/4 × 1/2 = 3/8

Harry's new share =

⇒ 3/4 × 1/2 = 3/8

Tulsi's Share =

⇒ 1/4 × (1 × 2)/(4 × 2)

2/8

New profit sharing ratio =

  • Ravi : Harry : Tulsi
  • 3/8 : 3/8 : 2/8

3 : 3 : 2

New profit sharing ratio of Ravi, Harry and Tulsi = 3 : 3 : 2

Sacrificing Ratio :

Old Ratio - New Ratio = Sacrificing Ratio

Ravi's Sacrifice =

⇒ 1/2 - 3/8 = (4 - 3)/8

1/8

Harry's Sacrifice =

⇒ 1/2 - 3/8 = (4 - 3)/8

1/8

Sacrificing Ratio =

  • Ravi : Harry
  • 1/8 : 1/8

1 : 1

Sacrificing Ratio of Ravi and Harry = 1 : 1

Therefore,

  • New profit sharing ratio of Ravi, Harry and Tulsi = 3 : 3 : 2

  • Sacrificing ratio of Ravi and Harry = 1 : 1
