• Let the number of 5 rupee note be x and the number of 2 rupee note be y.

• Therefore, Total rupees Ravi has is 29.

5x + 2y = 29   (Equation 1)

• Now, the number of 5 rupee note is half of one less than the number of 2 rupee note.

x = $\frac{y-1}{2}$

2x = y -1

2x - y = -1    (Equation 2)

• We solve equation 1 and 2 , we get

9x = 27

x = 3

• Substituting the value of x in equation 1, we get

y = 7

• Therefore, the number of 5 rupees note is 3 and the number of 2 rupee note is 7.
