Answer:

Required age of Surya after 9 years will be 45 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of Surya be a years.

It is given in the question that Ravi is 12 years younger than Surya, thus present age of Ravi should be ( a - 12 ) years.

= > Sum of ages of Ravi and Surya = Age of Ravi + age of Surya

= > Sum of ages of Ravi and Surya = a years + ( a - 12 ) years

= > Sum of ages of Ravi and Surya = ( a + a - 12 ) years = ( 2a - 12 ) years.

According to the question :

= > Age of Ravi = 40% of sum of ages of Ravi and Surya

= > ( a - 12 ) years = 40 / 100 of ( 2a - 12 ) years

= > a - 12 = 2 / 5 x ( 2a - 12 )

= > 5( a - 12 ) = 2( 2a - 12 )

= > 5a - 60 = 4a - 24

= > 5a - 4a = 60 - 24

= > a = 36

Thus,

= > Age of Surya after 9 years = { ( a ) + 9 } years = ( a + 9 ) years = ( 36 + 9 ) years = 45 years

Hence the required age of Surya after 9 years will be 45 years.
