Now, case 1 :-
R2 and R3 are in parallel.
Therefore,
1/Rp = 1/R2 + 1/R3
-» 1/Rp = 1/R + 1/R
-» 1/Rp = 2/R
-» Rp = R/2
Case 2 :-
Now, Rp and R1 Are in series,
Therefore,
Rs = Rp + R1
