1.Razia Sultan was a brave sultan who belonged to the Slave dynasty and she was the first Muslim woman to succeed the throne of Delhi

2. She was the daughter of Iltutmish and became the Sultan of Delhi in 1236. She was a talented, wise, brave, excellent administrator and great warrior

3. These qualities impressed Iltutmish very much that he made her succeed the throne after him.

4. But, the nobles disliked her reign and decided to overthrow her. Through conspiracy they killed Razia and made her brother the next ruler of Delhi

Answer:

Razia’s ascent to the throne gains immense historical significance not just because she was a woman ruler, but also because she did not come from nobility per se. Her ancestors were Turkish Seljuk slaves and their dynasty was called the Slave Dynasty, thus making her rulership a subversion of existing power structures at many levels.
