RBC has no nucleus ,then why do we call them cells

There are some cells which do not possess any nucleus or loose their nucleus at maturity and are called non nucleated cells.RBC is one of them.

actually it is a cell.during erythropoiesis it has nucleus. but it lacks nucleus at the time of maturity..it is an adaptation to carry more haemoglobin and it cannot synthsise protein but it can synthesis ATP by anaerobic respiration.it is short lived. ie. 120 days
