S + 6 HNO3 > H2SO4 + 6 NO2 +2 H2O
Sulphur gets oxidized to Sulphuric acid and nitrogen dioxide is produced.
As sulphur exists as S8 rings, equation can be written as
S8 + 48 HNO3 > 8 H2SO4 + 48 NO2 + 16 H20
