Litherge is nothing but it is generally a yellow oxide of  lead .It produces an oxide which is denoted as PBO also called lead oxide.

The simple reaction for the conversion of red lead to litharge is PB+O₂=PBO

Litharge can also be formed by heating lead nitrate.

Litharge is basically atmospheric in nature .
