Areaction between potassium permangnate and potassium iodide is such as that potassium permagnate reacts with potassium iodide to form magneese oxide with traces of iodine..the equatio is

KMnO4 + KI = MnO2 + I2 + K2O

balanced equation is

2KMnO4 + 2KI = 2MnO2+ 2I2 + 2K2O
