Explanation:
1. "You don’t look well, Antonio. You’re taking things too seriously. People with too much invested in the world always get hurt. I’m telling you, you don’t look like yourself." This comment spurred Antonio to say the above lines.
2.When Antonio says that every man has to play a role and his own is that of a sad man ,Gratiano say that he’ll play the happy fool and get laugh lines on his face. he would rather overload his liver with wine than starve his heart by denying himself fun.
3.Gratiano says that there are men who always look serious and their faces never move or show any expression. When they talk, they think everybody else should keep quiet, and that even dogs should stop barking. The only reason they’re considered wise is because they don’t say anything. I’m sure if they ever opened their mouths, everyone would see what fools they are.
4.Gratiano offers to cheer Antonio up much like the job of the jester or "fool." He suggests that Antonio should be more optimistic so that he will approach old age ("wrinkles... jaundice") "with mirth and laughter" . He suggests that it is better to enjoy life than worry about it.
Gratiano does not leave a good impression on Antonio or Bassanio. Bassanio clearly tells Antonio that rational words in his talk are like two grains in two bushels of chaff. Gratiano leaves abruptly as he feels he should leave Antonio and Bassanio alone.
5.First Antonio's had to part from his friend Bassanio when he leaves for Belmont and then faces misfortune when his ships sink. Later when he is unable to return money to Shylock ,he had to go the court to and Shylock would take one pound of flesh from his body according to the bond.I think Antonio is responsible for his own loss because he was very confident about his fortunes at sea and did not worry about it .Even after knowing the wicked thoughts and evil mind of Shylock,he agreed to sign the fatal bond with him.
