The old man was still sitting there because he was tired. He could not move anymore. He had travelled twelve miles from his home already. He had no family with him and no family awaiting him. He had left his animals behind in his house. They were the only reason he had to live. He was old and knew that walking anymore would just kill him faster. Hence he just waited for the death that was sure to come by the soldiers.
