The Editor,
The Rising Nepal,
Kathmandu.
Dear sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed paper, I should like to make an earnest appeal to the public for help to the flood-stricken people of Saptari. No doubt, people are already familiar with the terrible tragedy that has over taken the whole area. But the sad plight of the victims of the flood in the district of Saptari is difficult to describe. Hundreds of villages have been wiped out. Large number of cattle has been swept away and crops over large areas have been destroyed. Thousands of villagers have become homeless.
The government is doing all it can to relieve the sufferings of the victims. But much larger funds are needed for giving them proper help.
I, therefore, strongly appeal to the public to rise to the occasion and contribute liberally to the national fund.
Yours faithfully,
Yashlal Sharma.
