♦ Read the following paragraph and write a brief note differentiating renewable and non-
renewable resources with suitable example. :-
Environmentalists differentiate between the two kinds of resources as – renewable and non-
renewable. Renewable resources are those resources which can be regenerated – like wood. If we
cut a tree we can plant another tree and hope that it will yield the same amount of wood after some
years. However, if we use up a rock outcrop for preparing granite blocks and sell them off, can we
plant another rock or make another rock? Since it is not possible to regenerate these resources,
they are called non-renewable or finite resources.

EXPLANATION:-
A brief note differentiating between renweable resources and non-renewable resources
Non - Renewable Reources :-
The resources which are present in limited quantity in nature is called non-renewable resources
☆ Non-Renewable resources are effected by the human activities
☆ So, we should save the non- renewable resources otherwise it will be not available for our future generations
Examples :-
Fossil fuels like coal, petroleum , diesel, natural gas these all are examples for renewable resources As they are available naturally from our earth But if we use continuously It will not available
Renewable resources :-
The resources which are present in unlimited quantity in nature is called renewable resources
☆Renewable resources are not effected by human activities
☆ We can use how much we need
Examples:-
Sunlight , air , water, Solar energy , wind energy, tidal enrgy etc are examples of Renewable resources These are not effected by any human activities How much we need we can use

Know more:-
There are some alternative ways to conserve the non-renewable resources like fossil fuels
- Solar energy is used in generating of electricity like solar calculators ,solar cells , solar heaters etc
- We can use bio-diesel in running vehicles
- We can use wind energy also for generating electricity
There are some disadvantages too for fossil fuels (non-renewable resources)
- If we burn the coal It produces CO2 which causes global warming and effect greenhouse gases and aditionally it produces SO2 which causes acid rains
- If we smell the fuels like petrol, diesel , coal tar etc It gives unpleasant smell and also causes many problems related to breathing
Products obtained from coal
☆ Coal tar
☆ Coal gas
☆ Coak
Products obtained from petrol
☆ Petrol
☆Diesel
☆ Kerosene
☆ Paraffin wax
Answer:
Differencing between renewable resources and non-renewable resources:-
■Renewable resources
Renewable resources can be replaced by natural processes as quickly as humans use them. Examples include sunlight and wind.
☆Examples:-
Renewable resources include biomass energy (such as ethanol), hydropower, geothermal power, wind energy, and solar energy. Biomass refers to organic material from plants or animals. This includes wood, sewage, and ethanol (which comes from corn or other plants).
■Non-Renewable resources
Non-renewable resources exist in fixed amounts. They can be used up. Examples include fossil fuels such as coal.
☆Examples:-
There are four major types of nonrenewable resources: oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear energy. Oil, natural gas, and coal are collectively called fossil fuels.
