the country including Ganga and Yamuna are polluted. The responsibility of cleaning is not only in the hands of
government but even common man. A major river cleaning project Ganga Action Plan (GAP) was drafted by
the Department of Environment in December 1984. The government also established the Ganga project
Directorate for better results in 1985. After spending millions of rupees the river is still not free from pollution
now. They bathe in its water and throw away plastic carry bags and polutted drainage water into the river, this
not only pollutes the river but also make serious impact on the environment.
