b) Does the poem make you sad? Give reasons of your answer.

A.) The poem does make me sad. Taj Mahal, the magnificent monument that stands at the heart of India has a story that has been melting the hearts of millions of listeners since the time Taj has been visible. A story, that although ended back in 1631, continues to live on in the form of Taj and is considered a living example of eternal love. It's the love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, two people from the course of history who set an example for the people living in present and the future to come. By the means of this poem, the author tries to put the real status of ‘Taj Mahal’ in front of us. The emperor had built the Taj Mahal out of love for his dead queen, and it had great value because it showed how much he loved her and was devoted to her. It is said that Shah Jahan was so heartbroken after her death that he ordered the court into mourning for two years. Sometime after her death, Shah Jahan undertook the task of erecting the world's most beautiful monument in the memory of his beloved. It was, and is, considered as the best symbol of love; the kind of symbol which cannot be built again by anyone. But now-a-days the value and devotion of love is not the same as it was back then. The requited love of emperor and his queen makes the unrequited lovers of today feel real grief of unsuccessful or unrecognized love.

c) Sum up the poem in your own words.

A.) The poem ‘Taj Mahal’ begins with a lump in the throat, a love-sickness. The Poem deals with the best words in the best order. The first and second stanzas of the poem mainly talk about the condition of the Taj Mahal, and how it has become a nothing more than a tourist attraction now. The poem tells us that the actual value of Taj Mahal is slowly decreasing. The poem then says that the emperor and his favorite queen have been gone for almost three-hundred-odd years, but their requited love was still makes people who are in unrequited love feel very uneasy when they see Taj Mahal.
