Answer:

a) 5x + 20 = y

b) x = 25

Step-by-step explanation:

Number  of  the children = x

Total Number  of  chocolates = y

a) According  to question each child gets  5  chocolates.

Number  of  chocolate distributed( or given) to one  child   = 5 chocolates

Number  of  chocolate distributed( or given) to x  children  = 5x chocolates

Number  of  chocolates  distributed  among  adults = 20 chocolates

Number  of chocolates given to children + No. of chocolates  given to adults = Total number  of  Chocolates

5x + 20 = y

This  is the  required  equation.

b) If  the  Number  of  Total  chocolates is  145. it  means, y = 145

Putting  y = 145 in above  equation.

5x + 20 = 145

5x = 145 - 20

5x = 125

x = 125/5

x = 25 Children

hi mate

here is your answer

Before answering always remember=>>>

1) Ans équation with a highest

power(also know as degree of an

POLYNOMIAL) of 2 is called an

QUADRATIC POLYNOMIAL.

It always has two roots if d= 0 or d >0.

2)Here d is dicriminent which decides

the nature of roots of any equation.

Also when d <0 then equation will have no real root.It will have imaginery roots.

3)For solving EQUATION that has two variables we need at least pair of such equations to determine the two unknown values from the equation.

Now, ANSWER

A)Given, No. of Children=> x

No. of total chocolates distributed = y

Chocolate each child got = 5

Chocolate the children got = 5x

Chocolate adults got = 20

Now, equation is =

= >5x + 20 = y -------(i)

B)

Total no. of chocolates distributed

=145= y --------(ii)

Now, from( i)=

5x +20 = y

=> 5x + 20 = 145

=> 5x = 125

=>x = 25

So x = 25 is the total number of children.
