let the no. of students who like just spiderman be x

let the no. of students who like just batman be y

let the no. of students who like both be a

x + a = 20 ------------------------------(1)

y + a = 14 ------------------------------(2)

Add (1) and (2)

x + y + 2a = 34 ------------------------------(3)

and no of students who don't like anyone is 6

hence total is 32

x + y + a + 6 = 32

x + y + a = 26 ----------------------------------(4)

Subtract 4 from 3

a = 8
